PUPPY DIARY

Week Nine

The puppies are now eight weeks old.

Yesterday Oliver left us to start his life with his new family.  We know he is going to be very happy.

Time for a bath before I go!

We like to get the puppies used to new experiences here, including meeting the vet and hairdryers.

What is all the fuss about?!?!?!?

All ready to go!  A friend gave us a 'special' box for Oliver.

One last kiss and a rather smug 'smile'!

A cuddle with Marcus!

Time for some more training - clever boy!

Not forgetting the tummy tickle!

I do not think the box will last long!.........Polar Bear went along with Oliver too - I hope he is OK!

In from the rain - please can you get my toys out mum!

I like cake!

Tug O War with a piece of paper is fun too.

Perfect manners!  Miss Yellow and Miss Orange have now been named Rubie and Rosie.

Sydney also has superb manners.

Murphy and Aasha have true Golden characters and so the puppies are everything we hoped they would be.

The Christmas tree has now been decorated.   With two hissing noises when they approached the tree and lots of praise when they came to us the tree was never an issue.

A plastic bottle is much more fun!

Anyone who has recently watched the scene from Frozen Planet in which female wolf fought a two hour battle with a single bison, while the male breaks away from the pursuit within minutes, will understand how brave and fearless females are.........and it is a misconception that dogs can be more dominant.  Sydney (trying to look big and brave!) waited while Rubie went to get the bottle when it went too close to the tree - just in case a snake or an angry cat appeared.....

.....and joined in playing again once the 'danger' was over and it was back on the play mat!

The week has been very quiet with just three puppies.  They enjoy playing outside when it is dry....

....and inside too.

The puppies developed a mild form of Kennel Cough, which we suspect Lily brought back from a show.  All our adult dogs have built up immunity to this so Lily and the puppies are the only dogs to develop a cough.  As they are all eating, drinking and playing as normal we are simply treating them with homeopathic nosodes and infants cough mixture.  It is something we have always done and we have excellent results and Lily and Sydney have now fully recovered.....we expect the other two girls to stop coughing within the next day or so.

Sydney waiting for his "sweeties".....

Waiting patiently with perfect manners for their cough mixture.

.....

Just enough room for three on my knee!

Please can I help with the wrapping?

Okay I will just sit here and look pretty then!

Sydney in the land of nod.

All the other puppies have settled just as we hoped they would in their new homes.

Our aim is to breed puppies who are typical specimens of the breed and who are a pleasure to live with.  We will strive for puppies which are biddable, healthy, and who fit the breed standard as closely as possible.

Characteristics and Temperament will always be a priority as per the Breed Standard requirements.

Characteristics: Biddable, intelligent and possessing natural working ability.

Temperament: Kindly, friendly and confident.

Our dogs, and future generations of Kendaamber Golden Retrievers, represent the range of shades of gold which the Breed Standard allows from cream to golden.

All litters will be carefully planned and we are prepared to travel to ensure we find the stud dog which is most compatible in terms of temperament, health and conformation and type.

Both parents must have current clear eye certificates and good hip scores.

Elbow scoring is now becoming more widespread within the breed.  Future generations of our Golden Retrievers at Kendaamber will all be elbow scored.

Our puppies will be raised in a family environment where they are used to children and other animals, and the all sights and sounds of home.

Puppies will leave with a Puppy Pack, including a comforter for their first night away from their litter mates, six weeks free insurance and a comprehensive guide regarding all aspects of their care.

All puppies will be registered with the Kennel Club but there will be endorsements on their Kennel Club Registration Certificate in order to protect them from indiscriminate breeding.

A lifetime of support and advice will be available.

Only permanent loving homes will be considered.

We reserve the right to refuse to sell a puppy.

All puppies will be registered with the Kennel Club but there will be endorsements on their Kennel Club Registration Certificate in order to protect them from indiscriminate breeding and export - these endorsements will only be lifted in exceptional circumstances.  This is to protect the breed and the well established lines we are fortunate to have here.

We expect our puppies to receive the highest standard of care throughout their lives and live in a happy, secure, stimulating and permanent home.

Our own dogs live in our home as part of our family, not in kennels, and this is what we will expect for our puppies.

We never sell littermates to the same home as we feel puppies need individual attention for a significant period of time.  Training littermates is extremely hard as they tend to have a very close bond.

Some patience is required as we are not a commercial breeder and only intend to breed if we wish to keep a puppy ourselves.
