Izzy has
settled well with her new family - she travelled back to Sheffield
yesterday without any travel sickness.
All the
puppies have been in the car while staying here, and we have sprayed
the car in which they are travelling home with DAP spray 15 minutes
before they leave. It certainly seems to be working well, and
anything we can do to help the puppies is worth the effort.
Below is a video clip of the eight remaining puppies at seven
weeks old with Summer. She still enjoys being with her
puppies and is very tolerant of them even when they play with
her tail. Equally she demands their respect as you will
see from the clip and they do not attempt to touch the bone she
is chewing. I do not interfere in her parenting role
with the puppies as they must learn to respect adult dogs,
just as they do humans, and Summer is the best teacher they
can have.
2nd December 2008
Today Henry left us to
join Lee, Andrea and George (Golden Retriever) in Sheffield. He has a superb home and we know he
will be have a fabulous time with his new family. Henry
also travelled home very well - he fell asleep within ten
minutes and slept all the way! He is now enjoying playing
with his new friend George!
Saying goodbye is not
getting any easier, but the fact that the puppies all have such
loving homes helps. We hope to keep in touch with all the
puppies and will enjoy watching them grow up and hearing of all
their adventures with their families.
And then there were
seven!
A very content and
relaxed Summer!
Bracken is now going
out in the car on the "school run" and has also visited some
mutual friends. She was not phased being in a different
house and is apparently Reece's constant companion.
"Well
Done" to Lauryn and Reece for helping Bracken settle in so well!
5th December 2008
After a
shower there is nothing better than snuggling up together under the
heat lamp!
The
weather has not been very good but in between showers the puppies
have been outside.
Saying
hello to Bodie!
Despite
his size and the fact he is under a year old Bodie is a very gentle
boy and was very clam and gentle with the puppies. There were
wagging tails everywhere!
Although
we have no photos we also allowed the puppies to mix with the other
dogs at feeding time. It is very interesting to watch their
own instincts in action with regard to respect for older dogs.
They were very well behaved and it was interesting to watch Summer
draw the puppies away when Isis, who is our "alpha female", was
eating her meal. It was extremely subtle but the puppies
instinctively followed Summer.
Morgan
left us to start her new life with Colin, Teresa, Robyn and Max in
Surrey. We know she will have a wonderful life with them all.
