Joeka is a wonderful dog, with a superb temperament - he is very
biddable and calm, and he has passed his sweet nature onto his
progeny.
He has
sired quality progeny, including two Junior Warrant winners, and
Midland Golden Retriever Club Pup of the Year Winner in 2008.
He is
litter brother to Best of Breed Golden Retriever at Crufts 2007 and
Best Golden Retriever Puppy at Crufts 2003. Joeka is also a
Championship Show winner.

Libby's
temperament is outstanding and she is a wonderful ambassador for the
breed - sweet-natured and biddable - she is a pleasure to live with.
Since living with us she
has gained her Good Citizen Bronze and Silver and is currently
training for Gold.
Although only lightly shown she qualified for Crufts in 2007.
Two of Libby's progeny from her first litter (bred by David and Yvette Mannings
of
Gatchells Golden Retrievers), sired by Sh Ch Summeramba Stilton JW, have
gained their Junior Warrant, and one has also recently gained a
Reserve CC at the age of 20 months. Another, shown in Denmark is also excelling
in the show ring.

The
Arrival
Libby had a "text book" trouble-free
pregnancy.
She caused amusement as her appetite
increased from early on, and she could hear the fridge open even
while snoozing in the living room!
She enjoyed her regular walks
throughout her pregnancy, with the exception of the last few
days, when she was happy to join Bodie on shorter walks.
OUR "LADY IN WAITING"
31st May 2008
A very content
Libby - at just over 5
weeks in whelp and starting to show slightly.
11th June 2008
Libby is her
happy, waggy self. She loves relaxing in the garden, and at this stage
she continues to enjoy her usual walks early morning and late evening with
the other dogs.
14th June 2008
Our eldest son has come home for
the weekend as he is now living and working in Devon - Libby was very
pleased to see him!
Everything is prepared and all we
have to do is wait patiently - Libby has become acquainted with the whelping
box and seems to approve of her accommodation. She is still enjoying
her usual day to day routine of country walks with the other dogs and
relaxing at home.

Libby and Marcus relaxing!
20th June 2008
Libby has become a keen gardener
and has started to dig holes.
Relaxing in the evening......
.....with Isis
23rd June 2008
After
two days of relaxation at home, Libby's temperature dropped to 36.8,
and she refused to eat her breakfast.
By 2.00
p.m. she began panting but she was as calm and biddable as
always and chose to move around the house and garden as and when she
wished.
Her
favourite spot was a "den" she created under a Honeysuckle bush.
24th June 2008
Unfortunately things did
not continue to progress in a "text book" fashion and the decision
was made to deliver the puppies by Caesarean section. Libby's
puppies arrived in the late afternoon. We intervened before
either Libby or the puppies were distressed as it was very apparent
that no contractions were likely and their welfare was at the
forefront of our minds. Libby recovered from the
operation very quickly and being extremely maternal she soon
got down to the task of feeding and cleaning her puppies. Although
they entered the world through the sunroof instead of the door, the
puppies are all very well!
Special thanks to Yvette
Mannings and Kay Brownsword for their support and advice. Also
to the Bridge Veterinary Surgery for the care they gave Libby and
her puppies.
Above: Libby and her
puppies soon settled into the whelping box. As Libby and the
puppies were quite damp we kept them under the heat lamp for a
while.
The puppies birth weights
were:
Miss Pink: 1 lb
Miss Purple: 1 lb 1 oz
Miss Yellow: 13 oz
Mr Green: 1 lb 2 oz
The Diary will be updated
as and when time allows, starting with Week 1.
