Teddy is a very special dog as
he is out of Libby (Gatchells Edge of Heaven) and sired by Seamus (Sh Ch
Erinderry Just the Ticket from Bluewaters JW). A lot of thought
went into this mating and we had hoped for a bitch puppy from Libby's
third and final litter. Sadly it was not meant to be and Teddy was
the only live puppy she had.
It was a heartbreaking
decision to have to let Teddy go but we had to be sensible as keeping a
dog was not part of the plan!
Thankfully Teddy has a superb
home, only a short distance away from us. He has perfect life for
a dog - living on a farm - which means he spends his days outside and
his evenings in front of the Aga.
I was very lucky that Liz
offered to let me 'borrow' Teddy sometimes to show. He will only
be shown sparingly, making very rare appearances in the show ring, as his life with Neil,
Liz and family and all the animals on their farm takes priority.
Teddy spends many happy hours with Liz in the stable as she mucks out!
Teddy is a very lucky boy and
I am very grateful to Neil and Liz for taking such good care of him!
Thank you also to Jane Wild
and of course Seamus - Teddy's dad.

Counties Golden Retriever Club CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

Kendaamber
Limited Edition - 2nd Minor Puppy Dog
Teddy
qualified for Crufts 2011 at his very first show!
We are all
so proud of this very calm and gentle young man!
Liked this pale coated youngster very much, just six months
old and showing a lot of promise, lovely head and
expression, dark eye and pigment, good forehand, topline and
tailset, good reach and drive on the move, well handled,
will watch with interest.

Best Puppy Dog
This was
only Teddy's second time in the ring so we were thrilled
he won the class and also qualified for Crufts 2012.
Delighted with depth of quality of entry throughout the
classes resulting in many deserving dogs being
unrewarded on the day. As always I endeavour to
look for overall balance, good construction and sound
movement that should be the attribute of a gundog.
Heads gave me cause for concern, even taking into
account differing type and personal preference. A
number do not now conform to the Standard in that they
lacked balance, were not well chiselled, eyes were
incorrectly shaped and failed to give a kindly
expression. I was delighted that my final line up,
suffice to say, all moved with excellent reach and
drive.
Puppy (12) 1st. Kendaamber Limited Edition - very
well balanced, excellent construction, head well
balanced with dark expressive eyes, a quality youngster
who was sympathetically handled to show his many
attributes, in excellent coat, sound accurate mover,
would not like to see any more weight at this stage.

Teddy
decided it was time to "change his clothes" just prior to
Crufts but we still went along for an enjoyable day out.
We were very pleased that despite his lack of coat he was
shortlisted in a very strong class.

Crufts CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

After
a year long break from the show ring, during which time
Teddy returned to simply being a much loved family pet and
farm dog, spending his days with his family and farmyard
friends, Teddy was back yet again having recently decided to
change his coat - it is
obviously his time of year for getting a new outfit.
We have
included this photo of Teddy prior to Crufts to show how he
transforms from farm dog to show dog :o)
Teddy is
such an easy going and adaptable dog and despite a year out
of the show ring he remembered what to do and coped
with everything from the crowds to tannoys going off
unexpectedly.
Below are
two video clips of Teddy in the ring.

A very big
"Thank You" to Neil and Liz for letting me borrow Teddy.
We know how much they miss him when he is away.

Yet again thank
you to Neil and Liz for allowing Teddy to spend time with
us. He will be shown very selectively this year.
We are all very proud of the fact he does so well on the
rare occasion he is shown. This was his fifth show at
the age of two during which time he has qualified for Crufts
2011, 2012 and now 2013. Teddy has now returned to his
new job of babysitting orphaned lambs at the farm.
