In September 2004, after
receiving lots of helpful advice and reassurance, and reading "Give Your Dog a Bone" (twice!) I
decided to change the dogs to a natural diet which is based on this book.
The dogs now have a very varied
diet, ranging from chicken wings and carcasses; lambs hearts; ribs of lamb,
liver; fish; pulped vegetables and natural yoghurt to name a few. All the
meat, bones and vegetables are raw, and therefore care does need to be taken
with regard to food hygiene and cleaning surfaces and utensils.
I was initially very
unsure about the diet but having "taken the plunge" I am very pleased with how much
happier the dogs are at meal times (in particular Harley) and also with their general
health and condition.
A special thank you goes to those people who gave me the confidence to change
to this diet.
